REVIEW: KKW Beauty -Mrs. West Eyeshadow Palette

Hey Friends!

I’m so excited to finally have the KKW Beauty Eyeshadow Palette from the Mrs. West collection! I remember seeing the collection announcement a few weeks ago and thinking how absolutely GORGEOUS everything looked. I’m an unapologetic lover of neutrals. They are my comfort zone, and I find that I always end up getting some of my favorite looks out of these kinds of tones.

Everyone definitely has their own opinions about the Kardashian/Jenner family, but I think Kim was an absolutely stunning bride! I love the classic, neutral-nude tones she went with. It all came together for a timeless bridal, soft-glam makeup look!

I also LOVE her long-term makeup artist Mario! You might remember his eyeshadow  collab with ABH a few years back– it’s such a gorgeous palette! He’s just mega-talented, and I could get lost for an hour looking at his Instagram account.

Sorry for all the major fangirl-ing, I’ll get into the palette details now…..

First of all, I love the minimal packaging the KKW line has! It is simple, yet very statement making! The palette is very compact and travel-friendly- you could easily take this on a trip and achieve a a variety of looks with it. It isn’t the most luxe-looking product, but the component feels sturdy and I love that it has a mirror.

  • Comes as a 6 pan-palette with 4 matte shades + 2 shimmer shades
  • I picked up my palette on the official KKW Beauty Website for $30.00 USD. Much of the collection is currently sold out, but I would anticipate a re-release soon!

I don’t think there’s anything too particularly unique about this range of shades. You could probably find similar colors in other palettes you may already own. I will say that the “Pleeease Marry Mee!” shimmer shade is really gorgeous, and it has a beautiful balance of pink/gold without being overly rose gold (if that makes sense).

The mattes aren’t particularly powdery feeling or have much kick-up. The texture is a little bit more “stiff”, but I found them really easy to work with and control. The pigmentation is more buildable and forgiving in these, which I don’t mind when I’m working with especially dark tones. The experience with these mattes is quite different than ABH or Lorac matte shadows; if you are familiar with the consistency of Too Faced mattes these are pretty comparable.

I really love the shimmer shadows they put in this palette! They are gorgeous when applied, and I haven’t found them to have fall-out or cause a glitter explosion under my eyes. I wouldn’t say they are the most buttery consistency that I’ve seen in shimmer formulas, but they are very smooth and look gorgeous applied directly to the lid with a finger. For even more intensity, I think they would also work beautifully wet. They definitely make a shimmer statement, without looking chunky or gritty. Because the tones are soft and neutral, you could easily get away with wearing any of these tones to work/school (or at least I would!).

As I mentioned above, this palette isn’t groundbreaking or overly unique in terms of shade variety. What I will say is that every single shade builds and blends together seamlessly to create your look. Because it isn’t a 15-20 shade palette, you can skip the sometimes overwhelming guess-work on which family of shades to work with. Almost any combination of colors you can come up with using this palette is super complimentary, universally flattering, and they all work together so WELL! I would almost describe this palette as a scaled down, more concise version of Too Faced Sweet Peach Palette.*

*Not suggesting it is an exact dupe for now.

I feel that this is a product that can be fully utilized for just about any occasion: bridal/wedding makeup (obviously!), day time, night time, professional events, etc.! The price breaks down to $5.00/shadow, which is very in line with many higher end cosmetic brands.

All and all, if you’re interested in a really soft/pretty neutral palette..I think this is a great buy. I’m really happy with my purchase and I love that I can reach for it any day to create effortlessly flattering looks!

So now I am SUPER curious: did y’all buy anything from the Mrs. West Collection, or do you own anything else from KKW Beauty? Please comment your thoughts/opinions below!! I have definitely had my eye on a few other things in this collection, so I am anxious for them to do a re-launch! 🙂

Thank you so much for reading,

xo

    1. Yes! I agree! I don’t think that anything in the KKW line is completely unique with a ton of must-have items never done before. I feel that you could definitely replicate the quality for a lesser price point!
