REVIEW: GLOW RECIPE Blueberry Bounce Gentle Cleanser

Hey Friends!

Whew. It has been a minute since I’ve posted on here. I hope some of y’all can relate to going in and out of “creativity” mode. I think I’m especially prone to this when it comes to writing, I definitely have to be in a certain mind set to sit down and clearly articulate my thoughts in words. I fully plan to get back into consistently posting 3-4 times/week!

Anyhow,  I’ll spare you further wordy-ness and jump into the review!

I had a little single-use sample size of the GLOW RECIPE Blueberry Bounce Cleanser, and I was definitely eager to give it a try! It can be used a few different ways: a general cleanser, a makeup remover, and as a mask. I was drawn to trying it out as a mask, as I have several different cleansers/MU removers in my rotation that I love and use regularly.

Review as a Mask:

To use as a mask, GLOW RECIPE suggests to apply to clean, dry skin and simply rinse off with water after 5 minutes. I really love the simple, no-fuss ease of using the product this way— it’s not a mask that requires you to leave it on for 20+ minutes and then clean up a ton of residue on your skin. It leaves my skin SO super smooth and soft, and I don’t find it to be too terribly drying/stripping to my skin. The smell is beyonddd! It is my favorite kind of scent—super fresh and fruity

I really loved the results from masking with the sample size, so I decided to pick up the little $10.00 mini (30mL/1oz) size for a little further investigation (without the investment of the full-size for $34.00).

Review as a General (Makeup-Free) Cleanser:

The consistency of this cleanser is a full-on gel. It isn’t watery or runny in the least, but it does have a lightweight feel on the skin.

Close up to note the texture/consistency of the gel:

As the cleanser comes in contact with water on your face, it does begin to foam up. I really feel like the aim of this product is to clarify and really cleanse. it isn’t one of those cleansers that you feel iffy after using– it is super effective and you won’t be left wondering if your skin is really “clean”. That being said, I think this product would probably best suit normal, combo, or oily skin. If you are very dry, I think you may want to consider something more nourishing. As we get more into summer, this one is working well for me, as my skin is leaning a little bit more normal and much less dry!

Review as a Makeup Remover:

If I am being totally honest, I haven’t done a ton of testing on this for makeup removal. I did use it once or twice, and I felt the need to take an additional cleansing step to remove excess makeup. My favorite cleanser/makeup removing product is by far the Slaai Balm from Drunk Elephant— it’s just SO hard to beat that one! That being said, I don’t think this one is best utilized for makeup removal for me.

I really enjoy using this one as a quick little 5-minute mask and as an AM cleanser. It is super cleansing and refreshing, and I think it is really great for oil/dirt removal during these very hot summertime days in the South. I think y’all might enjoy this as long as you aren’t dealing with excessive dryness. As I mentioned above, you can get the mini one to try out before committing to the full-size (a little does go a LONG way!). The fruity scent is deliciously refreshing, and I LOVE starting out the day with the little pick-me-up it gives.
