Hello Everyone!
I hope y’all had a great week!
I had to get on here and share about my experience with a new mask I recently discovered. I’ve really been loving sheet masks lately; They are definitely less fussy than traditional wash off face masks and I LOVE the added hydration you get from leftover essences!
I’ve seen the brand Saturday Skin on social media and on several different retailers’ websites, so I became really curious to try something from the line. The brand was started in South Korea, where all the skincare magic is happening, so I was so eager to try something out from the line!
I’ve always struggled with dullness/tiredness in my complexion. No matter how much I hydrate or exfoliate, I haven’t found a lot of skincare products that immediately provide me with a natural radiance or glow.
After reading several “glowing” (pun intended) reviews on the Spotlight Sheet Masks, I decided to give it a whirl.
Some highlighted ingredients that claim to “reveal natural radiance” and revitalize dull/tired complexions:
- bilberry
- licorice
- lotus extract
It is FREE OF: Parabens, sulfates, and added fragrance & dyes. The brand is also vegan.
The suggested use is pretty straight-forward: you remove from the packaging by carefully unfolding the mask, smooth to conform to your face, and allow to set for 20 minutes.
My first impression of the mask is that it is quite a bit more thick than other sheet masks I’ve tried. It seemed very unique to me, as the “fabric” is much more durable than others. It doesn’t have the paper thin feeling that you might accidentally rip it that other sheet masks tend to have. I would describe the feeling of the material as mesh like— it has the feeling of a more thin, breathable medical gauze.
*I took photos of the mask AFTER I finished using it below — hopefully you can tell it is a super durable material, with 2 separate layers. I think this design helps to allow the mask absorb and deposit the serum into the skin.
The mask itself was completely saturated in the essence, but it wasn’t dripping or running down my neck as I applied it. It easily stayed in place once I had it smoothed out — I was able to walk around the house without it sliding or falling off my skin. (Of course UPS dropped off a package when I had it on! ;-/). It really didn’t have a detectable scent and the leftover serum in the pouch was clear and gel-like.
I kept the mask on the full 20 minutes, and I didn’t ever have any stinging or issues with irritation. (I’ve been dealing with sensitivity issues since starting a prescription retinol, so I was very pleasantly surprised).
It just felt SO cooling and hydrating —which I absolutely LOVE in a skincare treatment!
After taking it off, I used the excess serum left over in the pouch and smoothed all of it onto my face and neck. This is not a required step, but I decided to use my chilled jade roller to further press the product in for maximal absorption
SO much relaxation for a weekday afternoon!
I really, really enjoyed this mask, and I feel like it did plump up my skin and just overall revitalize my complexion. It feels like one of those gentle skincare products that you see benefit from pretty quickly without over stripping or drying out my skin. I’ll definitely keep this in my skincare rotation, especially for special events or times when I need an extra radiance and glow! It’s also just an amazing pick-me-up after a long, stressful day. Such a nice product!
*Here’s my before/after photos, taken about 1 hour apart:
So what do y’all think? Do you see any improvement or is the before/after about the same? Please share your thoughts below!
